The Foreign & Commonwealth Office has released a statement on behalf of the family of John Hudspith:
‘John’s release has come as a huge relief for all his family. The time spent waiting for this moment has tested each of those that care for him and our appreciation goes to all those responsible for securing John’s freedom.
‘We would also like to thank our friends and colleagues for their love and support through this difficult time.
‘We now look forward to John returning home and would ask that you afford us some privacy so that as a family we can move forward with our lives.’
