SSS arrests two over kidnap of expatriates

TWO persons have been arrested by the State Security Service (SSS) in connection with the kidnap of six foreign oil workers working for Peak Petroleum Nigeria Limited by militants in Bayelsa State, about three months ago.

The Bayelsa state government negotiated the release of the expatriates then and promised to mediate between the affected communities in Iduwini kingdom and the oil company, which was accused of neglecting its host communities.

Vanguard learnt, however, that despite the release of the foreign oil workers, the SSS, which promised to catch the kidnappers did not let go.
Their manhunt for the gang that abducted the foreign oil workers paid off, weekend, when two youths from Kou clan were arrested in connection with the incident.
An authoritative SSS source who confirmed the arrest of the two suspects, yesterday, to this reporter but declined to give further details.

Meanwhile, the siege on militants by security agents continues with men of the Delta State Command of the SSS combing more hideouts at Enekorogha in Burutu local government area and other parts of the state.

�In the next few days, I am sure we are going to arrest more of them. I have told you that there is no place for them to hide any more. They are free to disappear but we will always smoke them out�, our security source stated confidently.
