Last week�s parley Abuja had with Niger Delta leaders did not go down well with the militant Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), which has threatened to launch �Operation Blue April�, a replay of the attack that saw seven oil workers taken hostage.
It came a day before their inspiration, Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, spat fire from detention vowing never to beg President Olusegun Obasanjo to hasten his release. He said the incarceration has strengthened him and he would not back off the demand for a freed Niger Delta bolstered by oil-money. Reports say Dokubo looked more �ferocious� than he ever has been since incarceration.
Back home, MEND said it has got nothing to do with the Abuja parley during which a special committee was inaugurated for Niger Delta with Obasanjo chairing it. They are not satisfied, accusing governors Peter Odili (Rivers) and Goodluck Jonathan of compromising the �Niger Delta struggle.� The Council would be inaugurated on Tuesday. The militants vowed to strike on the 25h of April.
Analysts had expressed fears that absence of key Ijaw leaders at the Abuja parley meant it was a flop, urging the Obasanjo-led government to approach the issue with yet another strategy bolstered by dialogue and sincerity.
MEND equally accused the Minister of State for Petroleum, Edmund Daukoru, of �hoodwinking� at the behest of the federal government. This came on the heels of Edwin Clark (Ijaw leader)�s warning to Niger Deltans not to take up appointment with the Presidential Council on the Socio-Economic Development of the Niger Delta.
The group has warned the would-be members of the committee against approaching it for truce. MEND has stated what it requires of Abuja, and is holding out reconciliation without the government fulfilling the terms of truce.
Ebipadei Brutus issued a statement on behalf of MEND expressing dissatisfaction with the federal government�s move, which it described as a �constipation� and �presidential felony�.
It reads: �The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has examined the extremities of the constituencies of the conspiracies of political genocide orchestrated by the pallid poultry strategies of the Obasanjo Republic of Nigeria, as he Mr. President deems it timely to model a weapon of mass presidential madness in the Aso-Rock veto around the adoption of a committee of socio-economic development of coastal states , a precondition perfected to further castrate the abandoned Niger delta people to live as celebrated pawns in delirious chess board of one paranoiac national emperor of the Nigerian people.
�The world should know that M E N D cannot honour a pseudo-sustainable stakeholder rendezvous that was bought by the oiled �Ghana-Must-Go� loyalty caucus, certain Niger Delta governors and ministers, including Dr. Good luck Jonathan, Dr. Peter Odilli and Dr. Edmond Daukoru and his loyal boy and aspiring governor, Timipere Silva, who walk around head high as federal super stooges, bold enough to collectively dish out over 500 million naira in a gathering of Niger Delta hyenas conspiring to inspire socio-economic melancholy in the Niger Delta region.��
MEND said it has sought and got the consent of Ijaw gods to declare �Operation Blue April�, warning that severe consequences await anyone who sabotaged their attempt.
�Duty-bound to the instincts and intuition of the gods of Ijaw land, the battlements of the MEND philosophy had exhaustively consulted the explicit opinion of the gods of our riparian culture in the next phase of our actions��Operation Blue April�.
The agenda of this mission is to interpret the unanimous vote of vengeance by the gods of this rebellion to pour venom of black tempest on any Niger Delta native, dwelling in the schizophrenic reality long enough to cultivate the constitutions of the Committee on Socio-Economic (Constipation) Development of the Coastal Region.
�The gods had forced the hands of MEND to decree a bucket of blood against any Niger Delta son found within and around any person, group of persons or institution playing Russian roulette with the visions of the Niger Delta emancipation mission for their respective sacred self-gratification by the oiled crumbs of federal hamburgers.
�Beware, any Niger Delta soul caught trading the economic posterity of the Niger Delta region in whatever committee shall do penance before the wrath of the gods of our rebellion!�
�All political hawkers of the Niger Delta origin, scurrying for a chance to join the federal conspirators for a guaranteed Niger Delta lamentation in the proposed presidential committee of socio-economic development (estrangement) of coastal region, should pay heed and remain free.
�That not more than seven days after the proposed inauguration of the committee of socio-economic disenfranchisement of the coastal region, every member of the committee shall be official guests to the raging winds of the rebellion,� MEND warned.
