Militants meet and plan strategy

The following has been compiled from news sources and other security sources in Lagos.

On 20th August, Militant groups met in a village in Bayelsa State. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the way forward in their current campaign.

Present at the meeting were leaders of the major militia groups.

Information available to us at this time leads us to believe that the outcome of the meeting was as follows:

In the coming months, the group will commence a new and bigger wave of attacks. Our sources say that these will be of the shock and awe variety with a view to upsetting the elections. They will also start recruiting and training new members

Instructions were given that Asari Dukubos photographs should be widely distibuted around the area and a campaign started calling for Asari to be elected into Government office in Rivers State.

It was after this meeting on Sunday that the militants encountered the Joint Task Force that resulted in a gun battle that left 10 of them dead. How and why the Shell hostage was with them at this time remains unclear.

It is our belief that the likelihood of the militants planning plan reprisal attacks is high.

Some companies in the Delta have already increased there security alert levels to Red.

Caution is advised.
