Rivers to summon Total Fina Elf

THE Rivers State House of Assembly yesterday resolved to summon the management of Total Fina Elf to explain why indigenes of the state who allegedly passed their recruitment examination last year were not employed.

Moving the motion yesterday, the member representing Emohua constituency, Hon Chidi Lloyd said Rivers indigenes that participated in the companys recruitment exercise last year were sent congratulator messages on their email by the company.

The company he continued assured that they would be reached. But sadly according to the legislator till date these people had not been told anything by the oil firm.
The legislators said the authorities of the firm should be summoned to explain why they had adopted what they dubbed a policy to deny indigenes of the state employment.

Henry Ogiri representing Abua constituency who seconded the motion noted that as a chattered accountant he had earlier applied to the company for job. He said he passed its examination but was never called to resume work. He said it was clear that the firm had a clear policy to deprive the people of job in the place.
If Rivers indigenes dont have opportunity here in their state I wonder where they would be employed.”
