More than N10 billion have been spent to provide temporary solution to the perennial ocean surge at the Lagos Bar Beach.

Governor Bola Tinubu of Lagos State made this known in Lagos last Sunday following the inauguration of the Bar Beach project.

He regretted that such huge amount of money was wasted by the country to seek temporary measures to the problem affecting the facility.

Tinubu stressed that the fund would have been channelled towards moves aimed at finding a permanent solution to the ocean surge problem at the Bar Beach.

He said that the multimillion dollar reclamation and transformation project of the Bar Beach now would drive home better repositioning of the facility.

Tinubu charged contractors handling the first phase of the project to ensure that the job was delivered on schedule.

The governor stated that the contractor Hitech Construction Company Limited and its technical partner, Energy. International B.V. are expected to complete the contract within the next 12 months.

According to him, the construction of a state-of-the art hospitality edifice would transform the beach from its present state of liability to a veritable economically viable tourist centre.

Tinubu said that government hoped to ensure that the Lagos Bar Beach come back to its usual glory as a foremost tourism centre in the country.
