Minister of Commerce, Ambassador Adamu Waziri on Tuesday took up the gauntlet against an American Travel and business advisory to investors, which describes Nigeria as an investors� nightmare.
The business advisory issued by the American Chamber of Commerce last week cautioned potential investors against investing in the country, citing both macro-economic and political instability, with particular reference to the volatility in the Niger Delta and the political tension generated by the third term ambition of President Olusegun Obasanjo.
But the Commerce Minister in response to the business advice insisted that, the claim of instability was far from the reality of political harmony, economic progress and Nigeria�s steady match towards being the 10th richest nation on planet earth in 2021.
He therefore advised Nigerians to rise in defence of the Nation�s political and economic integrity in the face of obvious attempt to put the nation down and dampen the moral of the citizenry.
Said he: � Nigeria is a very peaceful nation. We are doing very well. Economically, you know our rating today in the world. We are being rated like Brazil, Turkey India by international agencies. And they have said the way Nigeria is moving today, in the next fifteen years, Nigeria is going to be one of the first ten richest countries in the world. And in the next 25 years we are going to be one of the first three countries in the world.
� Don�t allow any body to dampen your moral and discourage you. We remain focused. We believe in what we are doing. We believe in the vision of this particular administration. We believe in the vision of Mr. President. We will not allow any body to distract us from the focused position of making Nigeria a great country in the world� the Minister stated.
