US artists to rock Nigeria

Nigeria will enjoy the performance of the US top artists at this year�s commemoration of the country�s independence anniversary celebrations.

Over 18 Nigerian and international music idols have confirmed their participation at the first annual THISDAY Music Festival to take place on 7-8 October.

THISDAY reported that Beyonce Knowles, Jay-Z, Missy Elliot, Busta Ryymes and Ciara are some of the confirmed international artists. More artists are still expected to confirm.

Artist fro Nigeria include King Sunny Ade, Lagbaja, Tu Face Idibia, De Banj, Weid MC, Dare Art Alade and Seun Anikulapo-Kuti.

Head of entertainment and one of the festival coordinators at THISDAY, Ola Joshua, said: �this is by far the biggest event to be hosted in Africa and easily the number one music event anywhere in the world this year.�

�With Nigeria�s return to good international standing, a reform-based and growing economy, things are certainly looking better in Nigeria and we believe it�s time to showcase Nigeria to the world especially as we mark our 46th year of Independence, said Joshua as quoted in THISDAY.�

He said: the festival will promote cultural tourism in Nigeria as scores of music fans from around Africa and the world will follow their music icons into Nigeria in what promises to be a weekend of fun and entertainment for families.
