Update on Bori Camp Bomb

This report was received from a local network source. MEND have claimed responsibility for the attack.

Last night at about 20h00, residents of Zamani Lekwot Military Cantonment (popularly Known as Bori Camp) were rocked by an explosion that occurred at a point close to the ever busy Mammy Market.

I squeezed into the Bori camp this morning for confirmation of the incident and possible cause. My findings are below:

Findings
A person drove and parked a M /Benz car at an unauthorized area within the roundabout at about 08h40 on the day of the explosion but was ordered to move the car to another parking area.
At about 16h50(same day),the said car was again parked at that point and abandoned .
At about 20h00 the car was completely reduced to rubbles following a deafening explosion
Several buildings and an army office close to the vicinity of the eruption were affected.

Casualty
Seven(7) persons including a soldier were confirmed dead when dust settled while more than 20 others are going through various treatment at the military hospital along Aba road

Current Situation

All entry/exit points at Ikwerre/Aba roads have been sealed to motorist that use the barrack as bypass.
Affected areas have come under cordon and search
Molestation of motorists, civilians and residents or those that have need to go into the barrack is expected.
Bomb squad from the police command have also moved .

Bori Camp has a population of over 120 thousand civilian residents and is therefore very porous.Even the checks at the various entry points have been reduced to a mere routine exercise as those on duty openly collect money and let in all manner of persons. The feeling that it could never happen in the barracks (complacency) has been proved wrong with this development. The military now have their wound to lick.No person has been arrested in connection with incident and no group as also claimed responsibility.Military authorities are currently investigating.
