Snoop Dogg heading for Nigeria

American rapper, Snoop Dogg has confirmed that he will be performing at the first annual ThisDay Music festival to commemorate Nigeria�s Independence anniversary celebrations on October 7 and 8 in Lagos, Nigeria.

The rapper, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, will join fellow American artists Beyonce Knowles, Jay- Z, Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes, Ciara and En Vogue during the festival.

Snoop Dogg – the multi-platinum, award winning rapper – is expected to wow his Nigerian fans with his favourite hits.

According to reports, the Americans will perform alongside top Nigerian acts – King Sunny Ade, Tu Face, DBanj, Dare Art Alade, Weird MC, Asha and Seun Anikulapo-Kuti on stage in what promises to be the biggest event since Live8.

ThisDay Music Festival will promote cultural tourism in Nigeria as scores of music fans from around Africa and the world will follow their music icons into Nigeria in what promises to be a weekend of fun and entertainment for families.

To ensure full security and participation, fan zones are being created in Lagos and across Nigeria where those who may not be able to afford the tickets can watch it live on big screens, at a very low cost.

The organisers of the music festival are also considering other centres where some of the international acts will perform.
