Ramadan Begins

Muslims in the country have been asked to look out for the new moon of Ramadan tonight, which is the 29th Sha �ban 1427 A.H.
Secretary-General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Dr. Abdul-Lateef Adegbite, said in a statement that, “where the authorities are satisfied that the moon has been sighted in accordance with the prescribed procedure, His Eminence, the Sultan and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, should be informed at once, for a formal announcement of the commencement of the fast and the holding of Tarawih prayers on Saturday.

“In the event of the moon not being sighted on Friday, the Tarawih prayer shall be observed on Saturday with the Ramadan fast commencing on Sunday.”
