PDP Woos Buhari

Director of Buhari Organisation, Engr. Buba Galadima has revealed that there are moves by the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to woo the former Presidential candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) over to PDP.

Galadima who spoke from the Bush House London office of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and monitored in Kaduna yesterday, explained that the move to draft Buhari into PDP was to position the retired general to continue with the reform programmes initiated by the President Olusegun Obasanjo administration when he vacates office next year.

Galadma who was a former Director General of the National Maritime Authority (NMA) and defeated candidate for the post of the National Secretary of ANPP at the last National Convention of the party in Abuja stated that at the moment, the leadership of PDP has not found anyone capable of taking over and continuing from where Obasanjo stopped, hence the move to draft Buhari into the party.

On whether Buhari is positively disposed to the offer, Galadima explained that the decision is not that of Buhari but the party, noting that the general is opposed to jumping from one party to another.

“It is not a rumour, prominent PDP leaders have approached Gen. Buhari to come over to the party. The prominent PDP leaders feel that right now the way it is, there is no other person credible enough to continue and sustain the reform programmes initiated by the Obasanjo government except Gen. Muhammad Buhari.
