A Nigerian “super-polygamist”, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Bello Masaba, who had at least 86 wives has reportedly died at his home in Bida, Niger state.
According to the Daily Trust newspaper, the Islamic preacher died on Saturday afternoon, following a brief illness at the age of 93.
The newspaper said Masaba had at least 203 children and “many grandchildren”.
Some of his wives were pregnant at the time of his death.
In 2008, a BBC report said that the nonagenarian had 170 children.
Mabasa, who was also a former teacher told BBC at the time that he was able to cope “only with the help of Allah”.
“A man with 10 wives would collapse and die, but my own power is given by Allah. That is why I have been able to control 86 of them,” he was quoted as saying at the time.
