MASSOB Threatens To Disrupt Census in ‘Biafra’

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has vowed that it will disrupt the forthcoming national headcount in Cross River, Akwa Ibom States, which according to them are integral parts of Biafra Republic.

Spokesman of the group and Calabar Area Administrator of MASSOB, Mr. Nathaniel Nwali who made the disclosure Thursday in Calabar, Cross River State said the planned disruption of the exercise in the two states was part of the grand plans by the group to ensure the exercise does not hold in any area that falls under the territory of the Republic of Biafra.

Nwali mentioned the states within the Biafran territory as Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Anambra, Ebonyi, Imo, Enugu, Delta, Rivers, Edo and Cross River.

Nwali who spoke to journalists in Calabar boasted that no amount of force would stop MASSOB from carrying out its plans, saying the group has sufficiently mobilised its members to ensure total disruption of the exercise.

No matter the threat or the bullets of the Nigerian government nothing will stop us from ensuring that counting does not take place in Cross River and Akwa Ibom and any other Biafran territory. We have been mobilizing and sensitizing Biafrans, especially the Igbos to boycott the exercise. Amoured cars, Bombs, and Bullets cannot stop us, he declared.

The Administrator argued that the forthcoming population and housing census was a ploy to continue to marginalize the Igbos in a strange land called Nigeria.

He pointed out that unlike places where things are done properly, the government of Nigeria would only use the demographic data to continue plundering the wealth of the people of Biafra, which it has carved into the Southsouth zone.

Nwali stated that what happened during the 2003 elections was enough lesson for the people of Biafran Republic, stressing that the Nigerian authorities demonstrated that they are outlaws, who are alsoprepared to do things that are illegal and unjust.

He stated that the exclusion of tribe and religion from the census questioner was informed by the desire of the Nigerian government to deny the fact that the population of Biafra stands at over 70 million people.
