Lagos retrains 3550 law enforcement officers

Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has stressed the need for efficiency in enforcement of the laws in the state.He, therefore, called on all the law enforcement agencies to be more proactive in enforcing the laws that would impact positively on the people’s living condition and bring sanity to the society.
Ambode, made the call at the 2016 edition of the mandatory in-service training programme for law enforcement officers in the state’s public service.

He charged the various law enforcement agencies in the state to be proactive in their duty and discharge it in a way that people will have confidence and trust in the law and in them as officers of the law. He, however, reminded them that as law enforcement officers, they were the face of the law.

The governor urged them to make professionalism the hallmark of law enforcement in the state, assuring that his administration will continue to place high emphasis on law enforcement and give serious considerations to all possible innovations that could positively impact on the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies in the state.
The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Adeniji Kazeem said it is in the interest of governor Ambode’s administration to strengthen law, as such he directed that all the state law enforcement agencies undergo the mandatory refresher training to ensure that there is civility in the firmness required by the law enforcers in the discharge of their duties.

According to him, the Institute was set up to formulate and implement training standards in line with global best practices, to ensure ethical behaviour and promote professionalism among various law enforcement operatives of the state.

At the end of the exercise, 3550 agents from the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), Lagos Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO) will benefit from the exercise.
