IYC threatens to deal with pipeline vandals

Niger Delta youths under the Umbrella of Ikwerre Youth Congress (IYC) have threatened to deal decisively with pipeline vandals in the Niger Delta region should the perpetrators refuse to refrain from their actions.

The leader of the group, Prince Charles A. Ejekwu gave this warning on Monday after their meeting in Port Harcourt. He warned that hence forth, the issue of pipeline vandalisation would not be treated with kid-gloves if the perpetrators do not refrain from the act.

Prince Ejekwu advised the youths to toe the path of dialogue as an avenue for development, stressing that any group that refuses to tread the path of peace would be engaging in a counter productive venture.

We are calling on our youths not to take laws into their hands. As a leader we do not love the idea of pipeline vandalisation and we are warning that the youths would not fold their hands and see this nonsense continue he warned.

The youth leader maintained that the situation in the Niger Delta region would only be resolved if the youths realised the importance of peace and dialogue in conflict resolution. Speaking on the South-South producing the next president, the youth leader said the demand was not paramount. He however, sued for unity in the region.

Prince Ejekwu applauded Governor Odili, saying that the governor has performed creditably well in terms of his development strides towards the upliftment of the lives of Rivers citizens.
