Cultism: Students Beheaded

Three students of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Osun State were on Sunday beheaded by student cultists who are now on the run.

The incident threw the school into confusion after the bodies were recovered from a bush near Eripa in Boripe Council in the state.

Two of the victims were named as Segun Oluwole Suraju (Pre-ND mass communication) and Bashiru (ND II business administration). The identity of the third could not be ascertained at press time.

It was learnt that Suraju accompanied his friend, Tayo, to Ada around 9.40 p.m. but they could not get a taxi to their destination. They were assisted by another student who operated a commercial motor cycle.

Later, the headless bodies were found with machete cuts.

The Rector, Timothy Ademola Ibitoye, confirmed the killings, and that the corpses have been deposited at the General Hospital, Ikirun.

Three known cultists have been declared wanted and police detectives are on their trail, he added.

According to Ibitoye, one of the cultists nicknamed “Small Jesus” sustained injuries.

The polytechnic�s Governing Council Chairman, Olaide Okunola, has ordered the school closed immediately to prevent the crisis from degenerating beyond control. All students are to vacate the campus.

Police Commissioner, Sulaiman Fakai, could not be reached for comment on Monday.

Police Public Relations Officer, Joshua Olayemi, said the report was yet to reach police headquarters.
