Census Update

latest information regarding the Census as it affects Lagos State. The information comes from within the State Government. You will note that the restriction on movement between Tue and Fri is contrary to the information provided from the Federal Government.

THE 2006 NATIONAL POPULATION CENSUS

IN LAGOS STATE

Date for census count: Tuesday 21st March � Friday 25th March 2006

Tuesday 21st March � Thursday 23rd March. The Lagos State Government has instructed that residents in the State should stay at home and therefore, no vehicular traffic during the hours of 8.00 am � 4.00 pm, except for essential services e.g. Police, Ambulance etc

Who is it for? All residents in Lagos State. This includes Nigerians and non-Nigerians who live and work in Lagos.

Can I go to work?
Yes. If you can get to your office before 8.00 am. Please remember that the Lagos State Government expects maximum compliance. It is preferable for you to stay at home for the first three days, Tuesday 21 � Thursday 23 March.

If I must to go to work on Tuesday � Thursday can I still get counted?
Yes, but make sure that it�s compulsory for you to be out. However, Friday is a public holiday as declared by the Federal Government so you can still be counted on that day. Try to make sure that there is someone at home who can be counted and give your relevant details. That person can also ask the enumerator for the nearest centre or location for those who have not been counted to participate in the exercise.
