Following our last Bird Flu Notification authorities have confirmed positive cases of Bird Flu in the Bori Camp Area in Port-Harcourt.
The Federal authorities in conjunction with the State Government have taken steps to prevent further spread by culling all the domestic birds within the Bori Camp. No further cases have been reported.
The alert level is still at level 3 i.e No or very limited human-to-human transmission. At the moment in Nigeria, there is only bird-to-bird transmission and no bird-to-human transmission, so there is no cause for panic.
The Rivers State Government has also taken steps to ensure that no live birds are brought into the State.
As advised in previous advisories, staying away from poultries, effective washing of hands and utensils after touching poultry and cooking of poultry above 70 degrees centigrade/avoiding cross contamination will help prevent the spread.
