42 yr old senator spends more than a billion naira to build house

Sen. Lee Maeba represents the Rivers South East senatorial zone in the Nigerian National Assembly. A graduate of Rivers State University of Science and Technology, this 42 year old has spent the last 9 years of his life representing the Ogoni people at the Senate. He is also the Chairman of the Petroleum (upstream) Committee of the Senate.
A cursory look at Sen. Maebas legislative record would reveal that the Senator has not distinguished himself with any memorable bills that directly impact on the people of Rivers State and indeed Nigerians. While a senate staffer was reluctant to describe the senator as lackluster, he quickly admitted that the senator is known more for his stubbornness and party establishment credentials.

The young Senator who was not known as a money bag before he came to the Senate at the age of 33 is now, by all standards, a very wealthy man. Lee Maeba is on the verge of completing his multi billion naira fortress in Port Harcourt.

Our investigations reveal that the Senator who represents some of the poorest people in Nigeria is building a fortress like mansion. The house consumed about 3000 trips of sharp sand before the foundation for the house was laid. Elendureports.com can authoritatively reveal that Sen. Lee Maeba spent a whopping one hundred million for the foundation of his dream house.

Maebas white house was designed to intimidate the poor and match the taste of even the wealthiest people on the planet. According to the Senator, no matter how rich you are, a visit to the house will disturb you.

Elendureports.com has searched and reviewed the Senators legislative record. In the past two years, Maeba has not presented a bill or co-sponsored a bill. The Senator who was described by one colleague as a loud mouth and show off is said to be more interested in his personal business than serving his people. One source told this reporter, Politics is more a means to an end for Maeba than service. The only person the distinguished senator is interested in serving is himself and his very large ego.

The Rivers Senator spent over seventy thousand pounds, about N17,000,000.00 to equip his kitchen. This kitchen will be managed by a chef who is already in training overseas. The Senator plans to pay the chef about N150,000 a month salary.

Lee Maebas house also boasts of 6 living rooms which will be complimented by imported Italian furniture, all in white. According to sources close to the Senator, the high quality furniture can not be stained by anything. Water is all that is needed to wipe out any stains on the furniture.

The Senators dream mansion has 50 bullet proof doors. The main entrance door costs more than N500,000. Maeba has already bought 28 plasma and LCD television sets for his house. The smallest room in this mansion that boasts of an Olympic size swimming pool is 20’x10′. Every room in this fortress is supposed to have a seat-out.

Sen. Maebas mansion has a basement which will host a party every weekend, according to sources close to the Senator. Maeba is contracting a band to perform every weekend in his basement which also has the guests chalets. The Senator claims that the toilet utensils for his house are all imported.

Maebas mansion, we were told, has a parking space that can comfortably accommodate at least 35 cars. Inside the house, everything fitting that a guest will see has been imported from Germany and Singapore. Construction giant, Julius Berger was contracted to do all the wood work in the house.

Sen. Lee Maeba hopes to one day host the entire Nigerian Senate in his house. It is also his ambition to have the Vice President or Senate President open the house. Whoever opens the Senators house will spend the night there.

It is being rumored that the Senators fortress like mansion factors into his governorship ambition. Several sources in Port Harcourt were astonished that the young senator would invest so much money for a personal residence.

We have heard of the Dangotes, Dantatas, the Emeka Offors, Jim Ovia, and other rich people. When did Lee Maeba start making money that he can now comfortably spend a billion naira to build one house? queried this source.

A Port Harcourt journalist told this reporter: There must be something they put in the water of people who go to Abuja. How can a man who represents some of the poorest people in Nigeria build such a house without any pangs of conscience? What kind of public servant is this man?

Another source told Elendureports.com: Now you see why the Niger Delta will continue to boil. Those who are supposed to represent us are no better than those who oppress us.

Elendureports.com was not able to reach Sen. Lee Maeba before going to press with this story. Our efforts to contact the Senator were unsuccessful.
