The charred remains of a man suspected to be one of the operatives of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) which carried out last Monday’s bombings of the Government House Annex, Warri, have been recovered by the security agents.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that security agents that moved into the scene on Tuesday evening, to recover the two cars in which the bombs were planted, recovered the burnt body of a man in one of the vehicles.
Security sources disclosed that “we were surprised when we got there on Tuesday evening, to recover some evidences, like shrapnel of the bombs to determine its origin and moved the used vehicles only to discover the burnt body of a man behind one of the bombed cars.
”We are working on the theory that the burnt body was one of the bombers. Probably, he was trapped and could not escape before the bomb went off. We are still investigating and we will get to the root of the matter, particularly how they managed to breach the security network”, he said.
It was also learnt that the security agents might have identified some possible militants behind the incident going by the flurry of security activities on Wednesday, within Warri and its environs.
