American citizens:
On August 14th Nigeria will officially hand over control of the Bakassi Peninsula to Cameroon in keeping with an internationally recognized agreement. Americans in or near this region should be alert to the possibility that some local Nigerian groups may protest the handover. We continue to advise all Americans to review their security procedures, remain vigilant to their surroundings, and report any specific incidences of targeted violence toward U.S. citizens or facilities.
