There was stampede at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos on Wednesday when an Abuja bound Virgin Nigeria aircraft developed a hydraulic fault and had to make an air return.
It was learnt that the incident, which occurred at 5pm, resulted in the collapse of the aircraft�s nose wheel
According to an eyewitness, the pilot while taxiing back through the runway 18right of the international wing of the airport, sighted another aircraft.
The sight of the oncoming plane was said to have caused panic among the passengers who out of fear scampered for safety.
It was learnt that some passengers were seriously injured.
The injured passengers were rushed to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria�s clinic within the airport.
The relevant authorities could not be reached for comments as at press time.
Nose-wheel collapse of aircraft had been a recurring phenomenon in the aviation sector, as over three airlines have witnessed such incident in the past few months.
