SSS nabs militant in Delta

MEN of the State Security Service (SSS) in Delta State, yesterday, in Warri arrested one of the militants that kidnapped eight workers of Peak Petroleum Nigeria Limited in Bayelsa State in June, and there was indication, last night, that a Senator of the Federal Republic may be invited for questioning over his role in some of the kidnap cases in the Niger-Delta.

Details of the arrest were still sketchy, last night, but a source close to the Delta State Director of the SSS told Vanguard at about 7.00 pm: �As I am speaking to you now, the suspect is with us in Asaba�.

It was , however, learnt that the militant mentioned a Senator from one of the South-South states as being among the facililators of the kidnap syndicate.
The security source said the militant had made some useful discussions that would assist them in smashing the particular syndicate that kidnapped the Peak Petroleum workers.
An unconfirmed report indicated that the suspect may, nevertheless, be taken to the Abuja headquarters of the Service today (Friday) for further interrogation and prosecution.
It was also gathered that with the evidence against the Senator, he may be invited by security agents to explain his role in the kidnap saga in the Niger-Delta.
