Persons suspected to be ritualists chopped off the private part of a three-month-old baby boy at the Adankolo area of Lokoja, capital of Kogi State.
The 13-year-old mother of the boy, identified as Grace, said to be mentally-imbalanced, was put in the family way by an unidentified person.
According to eyewitnesses, the residents of Adankolo woke up to discover that the genital of the boy who was being breast-fed by his mother in one of the uncompleted buildings in the area has been severed and taken away.
The cry of the baby at about 2a.m. was said to have jolted the sleeping residents.
But when the baby cry of agony persisted, it was learnt that some curious tenants rushed to the building, only to discover the innocent baby boy in his own pool of blood.
Kogi State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Ruth Iyaji, who visited the scene described the situation as very pathetic and painful.
Iyaji called on the Commissioner of Police to ensure that those responsible for the heinous acts were fished out and made to face the full wrath of the law.
