Rebels Warn Angolan Envoy

Nigeria’s main rebel group, Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) today warned the Angolan ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Evaristo Kimba Domingos, to desist from making public comments on detained leader, Henry Okah.

“Our attention has been drawn to the irresponsible comments attributed to the Angolan ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Evaristo Kimba Domingos, made to the Sunday Punch as published on Sunday, November 30,2008 MEND said in an email to the media.

“His remarks are prejudicial to Henry Okah’s on-going kangaroo trial. Angola never had any evidence against Henry Okah and only held him at the behest of the Nigerian government.

“The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) is hereby giving a stern warning to Mr Domingos to shut his big mouth or face our wrath. He must learn a lesson from Mumbai to know that if we decide to set our sights on him, Abuja can not save him.” The email was signed by Jomo Gbomo.

It will be recalled that Okah was arrested in Angola last year and deported to Nigeria
