The Police in the early hours of Monday rescued two Spanish nationals from the hands of kidnappers who invited them into the country for business discussion.
The duo, who are renowned cosmetic manufacturers in Spain, were invited to Nigeria on March 14 by Zan Cosmetics Company, Aba, Abia State, for business discussions with the managing director of the company.
On arrival on March 14, the Spanish businessmen were received at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja by the Managing Director of Zan Cosmetics, and his managers.
Informed police sources disclosed to the Nigerian Tribune that the foreigners and the officials of Zan Cosmetics spent a night in Lagos before proceeding to Aba, for the business meeting the next day.
However, events turned around when on March 17, the company officials informed the Spanish nationals that they had been kidnapped and should pay a ransom of 200,000 euros before they could regain their freedom.
The foreigners were held hostages in a village in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.
However, their captors allowed them communication channels with their family back in Spain on how to raise the money and directed them to send it through western union to them in Abia State.
