Twenty one suspected armed robbers have in the last few days been killed while 47 were arrested by the police in Lagos State after exchanges of gunfire at different confrontations in the state.
The police have also recovered 18 stolen vehicles from suspected robbers while 515 and five arms and ammunition were recovered in the last one week.
These were disclosed to newsmen on Thursday by the state Police Commi-sioner, Muhammed Abubakar, during the weekly parade of armed robbery suspect and other suspected criminals arrested in the state.
Thirty two armed robbery suspect and five security personnel impersonators who have been terrorising residents of the state were paraded before newsmen by the police boss, who admitted that the security situation in the state was still not very good.
Different gangs of robbers who have been terrorising the residents of Amukoko, Ikeja, Oko Oba, Apapa, Ajah, Ojoo, Victorial Island, Ejigbo and Mushin were arrested by the police in the state. Police from Amukoko Divisional Police Station, a few days ago, arrested the quartet of Temidayo Olagbagi, Obute Owanyo, Blessing Umaka and Esther Okposo, all of no fixed address at Okito area of Ajegunle during their preparation for a robbery operation with two locally-made double barrelled pistols and nine rounds of live cartridges.
