The National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers on Monday agreed to suspend its threat to embark on a nationwide solidarity strike.
The strike threat was made to protest the alleged ill-treatment of workers at the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas in Bonny, Rivers State.
In a communiqu after a conciliatory meeting held in Abuja at the instance of the Minister of Labour, Dr. Hassan Muhammed Lawal, the union said it had obtained some concessions from the LNG team.
According to the communiqu, after an exhaustive deliberation of the issues at stake, the meeting resolved that the NLNG contract staff had the right and freedom to unionise.
