Kidnapping: Jonathan Deploys 2,000 Soldiers To Abia

President Goodluck Jonathan, at the weekend ordered the deployment of over 2000 soldiers to Abia State and environs in a determined efforts to rid the state of criminals.

A competent Police source, presently in Aba, one of the commercial cities in Abia State, where criminals and kidnappers have rendered commercial and social activities incapacitated in the last 10 months, confirmed this to LEADERSHIP.

Speaking to LEADERSHIP in a telephone interview from Aba, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hafiz Ringim, said, “a time has come for us to take on this ugly situation in the very manner it deserve. Apart from the soldiers, we have over 1000 Police detectives sniffing around the local areas for intelligence information, with which to feed the soldiers in the bush with.” He said the soldiers are to comb all the forests in the whole of Abia and environs, they are to remain in that bush until this embarrassing tide is termed and eradicated in its entirety.

Investigation revealed that so far, over 201 kidnappers and accomplices are in the Police net at different locations in the South-eastern part of Nigeria.It was also gathered that there has been some casualties among the criminals, especially those that decided to engage the soldiers in a gun duel.
