State Security Services (SSS) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, yesterday effected the release of two children notably seven-year-old Francisca and her six-year-old brother, Francis.
The children were kidnapped about three weeks ago.
The release turned out as the parting gift of the State Director of the agency, as THISDAY learnt he has been transferred. His transfer is coming five months after resuming office in the state where he had virtually stopped ransom payment for release of victims of kidnapping.
The children were released by 1.30p.m. yesterday, when the kidnappers dropped them at a lonely spot at Elekahia, by East-West road.
The kidnappers who had given a different location, changed their minds when they noticed that they had been surrounded by the operatives.
After zooming off from the first point, they allegedly drove to the Elekahia area where they dropped the children and called the SSS to go there and pick them.
