Two children who were kidnapped in Nigeria’s oil hub Port Harcourt earlier this week have been released, police said Saturday
“The children were released unhurt. I spoke to their father who confirmed the good news,” Rivers state police chief Felix Ugbaudu told AFP.
The children, whose father is a local businessmen, were seized on Tuesday as they were being driven to their creche. Their exact ages were not given, but police said they were under 10 years old.
The past few months have seen a wave of kidnappings of oil workers and relations of prominent Nigerians in the restive Niger Delta. Most of them have been released, usually after payment of ransom.
