JTF threatens to fight militants

The Joint Military Task Force in Rivers on Tuesday said it was now prepared to fight militants should they continue to attack its locations.

The spokesman for the task force, Lt.-Col. Musa Sagir, at a press conference organised by the Navy and the Police, expressed worry over the situation.

Sagir said the JTF had lost some men due to such unprovoked attacks and was forced to fight back, the action which he said, also resulted in the death of some militants.

He said the task force would no longer tolerate any form of attack on its location anywhere in the state.

The JTF spokesman said though the force was not at war with anybody, it could not continue to watch the militants attack its men while they were carrying out their lawful assignments.

“No individual or group is above the security agencies of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, so any other attack will be visited with unprecedented reaction.â€
