The Joint Task Force in Rivers State yesterday stormed the stronghold of the leader of Niger Delta Vigilante Movement, Mr. Ateke Tom where they cordoned off and conducted a search operation during which arms and ammunitions were recovered.
The raid was as the Secretary of Grand Alliance of Niger Delta, am amalgam of militant group, Prince O. Amachree aka Commander Samuel Ebiye resigned from the Alliance on account alleged involvement in crime by their leader, General Toru.
Also recovered at his house in Okochiri Forest were dozens of army and police uniforms with assorted ranks in two Ghana-Must �Go bags, dynamites arms and ammunition which made the spokesperson of the command, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa to brand it �the most successful operation we ever carried out�.
He stated that they raided the evil forest where a militant training camp was discovered and destroyed while they also searched the house of a royal father as well as the Ateke estate in Okrika.
Sagir said they had the full compliments of the components of JTF as their various commanders were in attendance throughout the raid which saw them showing strength in the former militants enclave.
�We assure you that there will be no hiding place for militants in Rivers State. All through the time we stormed the place, no single shot was fired and we used aerial surveillance while the ground troops moved and we made a lot of progress.
