Journalists to join labour warning strike

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Monday directed its members to join the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in its three-day warning strike scheduled for Wednesday.

A statement by the National Secretary of the union, Shuaibu Leman, directed the members to stay at home during the period. It said the union participated in the National Executive Council meeting of labour congress on October 27, where the decision to embark on the strike over the new national minimum wage was taken.

“As an affiliate of the congress, the NUJ is bound to respect this joint decision and in view of this, our members both in radio, television and newspaper houses should stay at home from November 10 to November 12,” the statement said. The statement called on the members to co-operate with the directive.
