FG Provides Heavy Security For Tompolo

THE Federal Government has drafted heavily-armed soldiers to provide security for the ex-militant leader, Government Ekpomukpolo, alias Tompolo.

Saturday Tribune gathered the deployment was in response to one of the demands of the former warlord before accepting the amnesty gesture.

Our sister publication the Nigerian Tribune, had reported, last Wednesday, the three conditions given by Tompolo, but the Federal Government gave a feeble denial the following day.

It was also learnt that the government further gave two new jeeps to facilitate the movement of the ex-warlord.

Saturday Tribune saw the ex-“General Officer Commanding” of the militants in the Niger Delta with the soldiers and the jeeps last Tuesday, when he was hosted to a reception by his father in Warri, Delta State.

At the end of the event, the former warlord entered one of the jeeps, accompanied by a soldier while the second was used as security escort with five soldiers.

Meanwhile, the ex-militant leader is yet to turn in his over 3000 foot soldiers he promised to hand over to the amnesty rehabilitation committee in Warri.

As of 3.00 p.m. on Friday when Saturday Tribune left the rehabilitation centre of the Federal Government, the militants that served under were yet to show up.
