FG orders tight security around oil installations

The Federal Government, on Sunday ordered tight security around the strategic oil installations and other nation�s business interests in the Niger Delta region.

It was leant that the government also directed a fresh security web around foreign nationals and assets of the majors in the region.
Findings by our correspondent on Sunday revealed that the government gave the order to the Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta, Operation Restore Hope, in response to the Consular Warden notice by the United States Consulate�General, Lagos on imminent terror attacks on unspecified targets in the country.
The consular notice was issued on Thursday.
It was gathered that the warning notice prompted a meeting of the country�s military service chiefs in Abuja on Friday.
The forum, held at the Defence Headquarters, was presided over by the Chief of Defence of Staff, Gen. Owoye Azazi.
The latest security alert was reportedly one of the outcome of the meeting, said to have also been attended by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Luka Yusuf, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Paul Dike, and a representative of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ganiyu Adekeye, who was away in Brazil.
