Enough is enough, FG tells militants

The Federal Government yesterday warned militants, pirates and other pursuing the path of criminality in the Niger Delta to turn a new leaf saying that, enough is enough just as it warned that it will not allow those it called agents of destabilisation to truncate the resolve of the present administration to make history by pursuing the 2007 transition programme to its logical conclusion.

Minister of Defence, Chief Thomas Aguiyi Ironsi who gave the warnings while speaking on reports making the rounds that Federal Government has hired Chinese Soldiers to Police the Niger Delta, stated that such reports were not only baseless, but false, fictitious and possibly seditious.
“Under normal circumstances, the Ministry of Defence would not have reacted to publicly to these reports, but as you are aware, these are not normal times. These are sensitive times as we move towards elections.

Consequently, I am constrained to make a few comments and these are that, no agent of destabilization can truncate President Obasanjos resolve and indeed the countrys rendezvous with history to forge ahead with its democratic credentials, and furtherance of the reforms initiated by Chief Obasanjo will continue unabated.

According to the minister, The ministry of Defence and indeed all other federal ministries remain open for all relevant clarifications and confirmation of all sensitive issues especially those capable of over heating the security or the Nigerian polity.
