EFCC redeploys top officers

THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday confirmed the redeployment of 10 police officers out of the agency, with assurances that the posting would not impede on-going investigative activities.
The Commissions Head of Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Babafemi, in Abuja listed the affected officers as Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Mr Bala Ciroma, Magu Ibrahim (CSP), Mohammed Bunu (CSP), Atteh Seidu K (SP), Chemmy Panda (SP), Emeka Nwonyi (SP), Danjuma Mohammed (DSP), Madaki Abubakar (DSP), Mohammed Yerima (DSP), Bello Yahaya (DSP).

The statement however dispelled speculations that the posting would negatively impact on on-going investigations, assuring that, no investigation can suffer on the account of the deployment of one officer.

All cases being handled by the EFCC are going on well. Members of the public are therefore advised not to be misled by mischief-makers and people with ulterior motives, he added.

Babafemi emphasized that, For the avoidance of doubt, EFCC cases are investigated by teams headed by team leaders and all members of these teams are familiar with investigations being handled by them and can always follow up.

The statement stressed that, besides the 10 police officers, other policemen affected are those who keep guard at the Commission and who have nothing absolutely to do with cases.

The EFCC spokesman also confirmed the posting of its former Head of Media and Publicity, Mr Osita Nwajah, an Assistant Director, to the South East Zonal office in Enugu, but could not explain his schedule.

Osita held fort briefly as Head of Fix Nigeria, a sub-ordinate office to the Commissions Head of Media and Publicity, before his current redeployment to Enugu, where a level 8 officer is Zonal Head of Media and Publicity.
