EFCC has not invited me, says NFF Ogunjobi

Former head of the Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, Taiwo Ogunjobi, has stated that he is yet to be formally invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over his alleged involvement in the alleged fraud within the NFF even though he was at the Abuja office of the anti-graft agency on Thursday.

Ogunjobi, who along with former NFF President Sani Lulu and First Vice-President Amanze Uchegbulam, were recently impeached by other board members of the football body in the aftermath of the Super Eagles’ disappointing performance at the World Cup, said he decided to visit the agency after reading in the newspapers of his invitation for questioning.

“I came to Abuja, not because I was officially invited, but because I read on the pages of newspapers that I was wanted for questioning by the EFCC”.

“I was at their office, and they said my presence wasn’t required, but I will remain in Abuja because I don’t want anyone to write on the pages of newspapers that I ran away to avoid the EFCC,” explained Ogunjobi, who insisted on his innocence in the charges brought against him.

The EFCC’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, confirmed that Ogunjobi, Lulu and Uchegbulam were at the agency’s office but declined to speak further on the matter.
