Easter: FG declares April 2, 5 as holidays

The Federal Government has declared Friday, 2 April (Good Friday) and Monday, 5 April (Easter Monday) as public holidays in accordance with the Christian calendar.

Interior Ministry’s permanent secretary, Dr. Dere Awosika, who made the announcement on behalf of the Federal Government, enjoined all to reflect on the lessons of Easter.

She said Christ’s simple and sacrificial life and strict adherence to His teachings as enshrined in the Holy Book should be the guiding light for all Christians to emulate.

The permanent secretary tasked Nigerians to use this sober celebration to pray fervently for peace and progress for Nigeria .
