DELTA State Police Command yesterday nabbed a fake Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) recruitment officer as they also nabbed vandals with caterpillar metres and oil well valves belonging to Chevron Nigeria Limited.
These revelations were disclosed by the State Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr. Udom Ekpoudom, yesterday, in Warri while parading sixteen (16) suspected armed robbers before newsmen.
According to him, the Divisional Police Officer, D.P.O, �A� Division, Warri, Mr. Chris Okoro, a Superintendent of Police and his anti-crime team swooped on the allege fake SPDC recruitment officer whose name was given as Daniel Council after allegedly duping one Fidelis Koredegha of Ogbe-Ijoh town of N13,000 with a promise to offer him job while posing as a recruitment officer attached to SPDC, Ogunu, Warri.
The CP further revealed that Chris Okoro and his men intercepted two men in possession of valves and caterpillar metres discovered to belong to Chevron Nigeria Limited on Wednesday and stolen from an Escravos Oil rig, stating that the stolen items were being taken to Port-Harcourt for sale.
While advising job seekers to be discreet in their bid to secure employment, the CP admonished the public to be security-conscious always and report all suspicious movement and persons to the police, stressing that these arrests were made possible due to information made available to the police who in-turn acted promptly on them and assured on the confidentiality of the identity of all informants.
Meanwhile, a pair of white sandals allegedly stolen from a commercial bus conveying mourners from a burial ceremony by a 6-man armed gang have helped in tracing the robbers when a youth wore the stolen sandals to a restaurant in Sapele and was sighted and arrested.
