Cabinet Dissolution: Nigerians Hail Jonathan

Eminet Nigerians yesterday commended Acting President Goodluck Jonathanm for taking the bold step to dissolved the cabinet, just as they tasked him on his choice of members of a new cabinet.

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT), Alhaji Isyaku Ibrahim, told LEADERSHIP that Jonathan’s action was a job well done which, if sustained, will put him in a place of history with the likes of the late General Murtala Mohammed.

He said, “Jonathan has done well. He must continue this good work for Nigerians and not PDP. And if he does, he can accomplish a lot in just six months like the late Murlata Mohammed. Yes, he can! Let him ignore the governors and forge ahead.

President of the Nigeria Bar Association, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) decribed the dissolution of the cabinet as a good development.

He said it is a development long over due. The choice to be made in replacement will however tell if it was well intended. Let us, therefore await further announcement.

Also, the National Coordinator of the Save Nigeria Group (SNG), Mr Yinke Odunmakin, said with this action, Jonathan has ceased being acting president, he is now action president.

He added that heaven will not fall for all the right and courageous decision he needs to take as Nigeria are behind him.

“He should now look across the length and breadth of Nigeria for the best and brightest Nigeria can offer without party colouration”.

Also speaking to LEADERSHIP in Lagos his the Former National Publicity Secretary of the PDP Hon. Emmanuel Ibeshi said the action is a great steps in the best interest of the nation.

He maintain that Jonathan need to prayerfully look for men and women within Nigeria and diasporas with proven track records and integrity gifted in nation building to help him in the new Executive Council of the Federation to lay a lasting foundation for a Nigeria that can outlive the present generation.

“These crops of Nigerians must have proved their mantle and must have been so recognized in their patriotic zeal for national interest and national development irrespective of ethnic or religion affiliations” Ibeshi added.

He warns that the nominees must not be stooges of governors who send them forth as an extension of their political machinery.
