Bus Crash Kills Scores In Lagos

A commuter bus commandeered by an official of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) crashed into the crowd killing many people early Saturday morning in Adeniji Adele part of Lagos, Nigeria.

An eye witness told The Times of Nigeria that over ten bodies has been recovered from the crash site and many more taken to the hospital. It is not known how sever their injuries are but casualty figure is expected to increase.

“There is blood and dead bodies all over the place. I can see ten bodies right now. There is confusion everywhere right now.”
According to eye witnesses, a LASTMA traffic warden had stopped the bus around 9am in the morning over an unspecified violation and mounted the steering over protestations from the bus driver. The LASTMA official lost control of the bus less than a minute after and rammed the passenger-laden bus into a crowed and another vehicle.

As at the time of this report bodies were still being evacuated from the scene and casualty figure is expected to rise.
