The Buhari Presidential Campaign Committee has put in place anti-rigging machinery to ensure that all votes are duly counted at all polling stations during the forthcoming general elections.
Coordinator of the Buhari Presidential Campaign Com-mittee, Barrister Sani Abbas, told newsmen in Kaduna that the ANPP has learnt its lessons from what occurred in the 2003 election in which unprecedented rigging had taken place against the over-whelming mandate of the Nigerian people, hence the formation of strong anti rigging machinery that will protect their votes in all the 5108 wards in Kaduna state.
He said: “we are putting formidable anti-rigging machi-nery in place that will ensure every single vote is duly counted after every election at all the polling stations, not only in Kaduna state but across the country as well.”
Abbas maintained that no amount of intimidation, hara-ssment or use of excessive force by security agencies and thugs would frighten them this time around in defence of their votes since the majority of the people are disillusioned with the PDP led government at states and federal levels in the last eight years.
“Rigging will be impossi-ble. People are ready to adopt Kano and Lagos formula to safeguard their mandates because Nigerians are tired of being cheated in elections, hence they make a consensus opinion across political parties,” he said.
According to him, their campaign committee has already appointed trust-worthy coordinators at wards and local government levels across the state. “Each out of 5108 polling units in the state will be manned by 4 to 5 people to protect our votes. I am assuring people that the April elections will be different entirely,” he assured.
Barrister Abbas, a former Kaduna state ANPP guber-natorial aspirant, also said Kaduna state has been ANPP state since 1999, while their committee’s duty is to mobi-lise and enlighten the teeming population on the risk of re-voting the PDP at the state and federal level. “Buhari is a sellable material whose oppo-nents and critics have attes-ted to his incorruptible nature and possession of much needed qualities of leadership that the nation dearly needs.”
On the issue of mass defection of ANPP members including governors to other parties such as the PDP, Abbas said the cross-carpeting of ANPP members will not undermine their spirit to win the elections and it could also be described as a good riddance to bad rubbish. “To tell you the truth, when some ANPP governors defected to the PDP, most of their supporters refused to follow them and chose to remain with the ANPP. They will never allow rigging in all its ramifications”, he reiterated.
