Boko Haram overruns Askira Uba in Borno

Reports reaching journalists have it that Boko Haram militants last night captured the Borno State town of Askira Uba. The fighters were said to have stormed the town at the dead of the night, sacking those residing there.

The latest invasion by the terrorists is coming less than a day after the Nigerian military regained Monguno, believed to be the only town previously under the control of the outlawed insurgents.
