Labor union announces suspension of strike

Nigeria labour unions have announced they will suspend their strike over spiraling fuel prices in the oil-rich country.
Nigeria Labor Congress President Abdulwaheed Omar made the announcement Monday.
The decision comes after President Goodluck Jonathan made an offer to put in place partial subsidies to bring down fuel costs. It also comes amid violence in the streets of Lagos as soldiers fired apparent live ammunition and tear gas at protesters.

The strike began Jan. 9, paralyzing the nation of more than 160 million people.
