The Nigeria police Force is to ground all its six helicopters for necessary checks, following Wednesday’s crash of a police chopper in the northern city of Jos, which killed all four police officers, including a Deputy Inspector General, on board.
“The choppers will be grounded because that is the standard practice in civilised world and Nigeria is part of the global community,” the private Punch newspaper Friday quoted a senior police pilot as saying.
The paper said the checks were necessary to ensure that other helicopters are safe and in good mechanical condition.
