THE MOVEMENT FOR THE EMANCIPATION OF THE NIGER DELTA

Press Release
The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) wish to
inform the general public that it has reviewed the execution of the 24 foreign workers on board the cargo ship in our custody. This is sequel to a plea from the federal government and Ijaw elders that they are going to work towards the actualization of our demands.

By this development the cargo ship and the hostages will remain in our custody as we keenly monitor the efforts of the government and Ijaw elders.

The Movement uses this medium to warn all those imposing themselves as negotiators/mediators to stay-off as the movement is not demanding for ransom from any quarters.

Meanwhile;

1.The immediate release of Chief Asari Dokubo and Chief D S P
Alamieyeseigha,

2.The governors of Rivers and Delta states must give account of over 300 billion naira that have accrued to their respective States from the 13 % derivation fund from 1999 to date.

3. And that no person from the current administration of the Rivers and Delta state government should be nominated as a governorship candidate of
these states by the PDP or any other political party in Nigeria as they are accomplices in the criminal and corrupt management of these states from 1999 to Date

4.That SPDC should pay the 1.5 billion dollars to the aborigines of Bayelsa state.

The Movement also warns Chevron Nig Ltd to desist from the use of
military escort in the Niger Delta water ways or face the wrath of the Movement.
