Security agencies and Delta State Government were in a dilemma on Thursday as the whereabouts of four Americans abducted in the state on Tuesday night, could not be ascertained almost 48 hours after the incident.
Also, the management of the American oil multinational, Chevron Nigeria Limited, on Thursday, urged the Federal Government and the Delta State Government to assist in ensuring speedy release of the embattled oil workers.
The foreign nationals were employees of a service company to CNL, Global Offshore International.
The foreign nationals were abducted at Okan fields of CNL in Warri South West Local Government Area of the state at 11:30pm on Tuesday by militants.
The militants stormed the vessel occupied by the expatriates and indigenous workers in 12 speed boats and later departed the scene with the foreigners.
However, efforts by the security agencies, especially officials of the Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta, Operation Restore Hope, and Delta State to ascertain the location of the expatriates since Tuesday night, were futile.
It was learnt that the JTF and the state government could not establish a link with the masterminds of the action as at 2pm on Thursday.
Similarly, findings by our correspondent revealed that a team of Ijaw youths assembled by the JTF and the state government could not provide a clue to the fate of the expatriates on Thursday afternoon.
But CNL�s management on Thursday scheduled a meeting with its Ijaw and Itsekiri host communities in Warri South West Local Government Area, to chart a way forward.
The meeting commenced at 2pm with officials of the state government moderating.
CNL�s General Manager, Government and Public Affairs, Mr. Femi Odumabo, confirmed that the company�s management scheduled a meeting with its host communities on Thursday.
Odumabo also said the CNL had contacted the Federal and Delta State Governments to ensure early release of the expatriates.
